A brown bear in Armenia affectionately named Ricky has recovered after a vehicle struck him and a local wildlife rescue center patched him up. Once the rescue center staff deemed Ricky was ready for re-release back into the wild, they brought him out into the wilderness and opened the door to his crate. What happened next was a bit frightening—the bear tried to attack the rescuer who opened the crate door.
Video of the release shows Ricky lunging at the lone rescuer whose job it was let the bear free. The man leapt into the truck bed, and the bear chased those rescuers away, then went on his way. How’s that for a thank you?
The rescue organization says they’d planned the release carefully, and when the bear lunged, the man had a place to go. His trusty getaway truck drove off quickly, the bear hot on its tailgate.
